Congdon Maternity Session
Can I just start by saying what a beautiful couple, inside & out, Stephen and Elisabeth are? I mean, seriously. Their sweet little family could take up modeling together because I just know their baby girl is going to be as gorgeous as her parents! And you won’t find many people kinder or more genuine than the Congdons. I consider myself lucky to call them friends and was beyond excited to take their maternity pictures!
We decided to meet at Dorothea Dix Park at sunset for their maternity session. But I have a confession to make… I was a bit disgruntled at the beginning of our session. We had planned for this gorgeous, sun-soaked, golden sunset session but there was just one small problem: it was cloudy. How dare the sun hide and refuse to play nicely!? Didn’t he know I had all these beautiful shots in mind that required his assistance? Humph. But we were determined to make the most of it so we began the shoot with hopes that Mr. Sun would eventually grace us with his presence at sunset.
Our patience paid off!!! The sun FINALLY peaked out below the clouds and I literally started jumping for joy. Stephen and Elisabeth can confirm this fact. In my excitement, I started running across the massive field in Dorothea Dix Park to find the perfect spot, momentarily forgetting I had my (very) pregnant friend following behind. Whoops. Sorry, Elisabeth! I told them to take their time as I ran ahead to scope out the best vantage point to continue our sunset shoot. I’m SO glad we didn’t give up at the beginning because that golden light was magical and well worth the wait!
This sunset session perfectly illustrates the Congdons love & excitement for their growing family. Because, much like the sun, Stephen and Elisabeth’s love for each other shines! Their affection radiates in every interaction, finding genuine joy in laughing and spending time together. Stephen’s attentiveness to Elisabeth is equal parts gentle and playful. He was constantly finding ways during the session to make her laugh with his antics while also ensuring she and the baby were comfortable. The funniest moment of the session was when he started posing with his “bump” as well. We were all laughing hysterically as I snapped this matching bumps pic!
Clearly we had a lot of fun at this session despite the cloudy start! When you are with good company it is always a good day. Thank you again Stephen & Elisabeth for all the laughter and waiting patiently for my visions for your session to come to light, literally. It truly was such a pleasure to capture your bright love for one another and your baby girl! I cannot wait to meet and photograph the newest model in the Congdon family :D
XOXO,
